What to expect
Take your pottery skills to the next level with our Throw and Trim course. Spread over the first two Saturday mornings of the month, this two-part workshop is designed to give you a deeper, more complete experience of the ceramic process from raw clay to a finished, refined form. Session One: The Throw (First Saturday, 10am – 12pm) We’ll start with a live demonstration focused on the fundamentals of the wheel. You’ll spend the morning mastering centering and pulling walls to create your ceramic vessels. With dedicated time to practice, you’ll craft at least two pieces with more intention and care, exploring shapes like bowls, mugs, or vases. Session Two: The Trim (Second Saturday, 10am – 12pm) After your pieces have dried to "leather-hard," you’ll return to the wheel for the second stage. This session focuses on the art of trimming using specialised tools to refine your shapes, add foot rings, and shave away excess clay for a professional, lightweight finish. It’s in this session that your work truly comes to life! The Finishing Touches Once your pieces are trimmed and perfected, they will be professionally fired and glazed in your choice of three signature finishes: 💙 Peacock Blue | 🍃 Leaf Green | ⚪ Classic White Your finished pottery will be ready to collect in 4-6 weeks, transformed into durable, functional pieces for your home. Optional: Add-on Painting Session If you’d like to skip the standard glazes and hand-paint your own intricate designs or vibrant patterns, you can join our Painting Add-on session. When: 2pm on the second Saturday of the following month. How: Simply select the "Painting Add-on" at checkout to reserve your seat. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to build on your basic skills, this course offers a relaxed, supportive environment to get creative. Book your spot now!

Glazing and Firing Process: The final step of glazing and firing transforms your pottery into a finished ceramic. Each item undergoes a precise process within the studio, where I carefully work toward achieving the best possible result. However, despite my meticulous approach, the kiln can sometimes yield unexpected outcomes. Given the handmade nature of each piece, occasional cracks or even breakages are a natural risk of the firing process. If your piece is lost in the kiln, I’ll gladly provide a replacement to ensure you’re satisfied with the final result. Payments + Refunds: Payment is required in full when booking through our website. To cancel or reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours before your scheduled session. Refunds are not available for cancellations; however, you may reschedule your booking within this timeframe. We kindly ask all guests to arrive at least 10 minutes prior, as workshops will begin on time, and we won’t be able to delay for late arrivals.
